Scalix Logger

Postby racmar » Fri Jun 22, 2007 6:35 pm

I've got an interesting problem with one of my users who is NOT using smartcache. Every time we open his Outlook, a second program pops open called scalix logger. I have no idea what it is, but the program's name in taskmanager is sxlogger.exe. Anyway, I've done a search on the forums and have NO results for scalix logger. I'm currently trying to "fix" this, here is what I've done so far:

1) Reboot
2) Uninstalled, then reinstalled the Scalix connector
3) Cleaned all temp files from his profile and internet explorer
4) Removed the scalix profile and tried to create a new one. Interestingly, the logger appeared again after I selected "Additional Server Type -> Scalix Server"
5) Reboot scalix server
6) Tried "Detect and Repair" from outlook
7) Removed scalix connector, removed profile, reboot, delete programfiles/scalix, delete documentsandsettings/.../scalix, delete registry key hkcu/software/scalix, then reinstall
8) Tried running "outlook /resetfolders"
9) ?????

This looks to be some kind of a debugging tool, but I'm stumped. Please help, because I am now lost.

Hey,

you are not alone. We have almost the same problem with a user using smartcashe.

Connector/Server 11.1

I did 15 upgrades or new installs with the 11.1 and 40% have a sxloogger crash after the installaion, also somtimes if I close Outlook I get the sxlogger crash.

SXLOGGER is a new binary included in the Connector installation to manage log file generation and provide us with better live diagnostics support. We've got a bug open to track some known exit crash problems with it - Bug 15472 (http://bugzilla.scalix.com/show_bug.cgi?id=15472). Please add any extra details you have there.

Thanks
David

There isn't an option to turn it off. We need it to be there to support the Connector.

Ok, but it opens another, separate, window when he starts outlook. It is mildly annoying. I am just looking for a way to stop the second window ( scalix logger ) from opening.

That's odd. SXLOGGER shouldn't create a visible window unless the following registry setting is present:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Scalix\Scalix\MAPI\ShowSXLogger=1

You should be able to ensure that it's hidden by setting this value to 0.

Thanks
David

Ummm, Not posting in the forums? This thread alone has 2 responces from Scalix in the past 2 days. That's not bad, I'd say.

2007 isn't supported, but it will work. There are some bugs left in it that need to be resolved before it becomes something that we want our name on.

Kev.

Off topic:
That was my mistake. It belonged to another thread about office 2007. But my assertion still stands, I was really referencing activesync, office 2007 and syncml threads. I realized my mistake a minute after posting it here.

On topic:
I checked his registry setting, and ShowSXLogger is indeed set to 0. But the window shows up anyway.

racmar

Please ensure that

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Scalix\Scalix\MAPI\ShowSXLogger

is of type REG_DWORD, and that its value is 0x00000000

Also, please can you confirm that if you delete

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Scalix\Scalix\MAPI\ShowSXLogger

and then restart Outlook, that it gets recreated with a default value of 0x00000000

Thx

Dave

We have the same problem with a "Scalix Logger" window consistently opening when Outlook is launched for some users.

ShowSXLogger is set to 0.

We're using the 11.2 (upgraded from 11.1, the problem was happening then as well) server and connector.

Some of my users have been receiving the same error message when they exit Outlook. Were running Outlook 2003/SP3 w/ 11.1 connector. The error had cropped up in the last few weeks here.

We have the same problem with some users. Outook 2003/11.2 Server/Connector. Scalix Profile without SC.

@Florian: I would like to see this bug on Scalix-Bugzilla.
