Recovery folder not displaying in Outlook

I upgraded to GA 11 this weekend.
Today I upgraded my Beta3 SC plugin to 11GA. When I was first looking at the SAC I clicked the "Show Recovery Folder" for my user account and it immediately was displayed in outlook. I then hid it after a few minutes of looking through it. I then went (about an hour later) to show the recovery folder to another admin and it wouldn't display. I tried closing and restarting outlook. Collapsing and expanding folders to try and get it to display... Nothing!
I can see it when I log into SWA but I haven't see in again in Outlook.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
chrisj

Hi!

When you login SAC and check the second user properties, you should be able to see "Hide
Recovery Folder" instead. Another way to confirm is, when you run the command

Code: Select all

omshowu -n username/mailnode

in the results you should be able to see an entry that says:
Recovery Folder visible : YES

Now, try creating a new unique profile of Outlook for this user, see if he/she now gets the
"Scalix Recovered Items" folder when he/she opens Outlook with the new profile.

Thanks,
Subir

I have the same behaviour with 11.0.3. The revovery folder shows up in outlook (with smart-cache) after profile recreation.

I am giving this thread a legitimate bump because I am currently experiencing this problem with 11.0.4. The only way I can see the recovery folder is through profile recreation. Also, if the recovery folder is already visible, I have to recreate the profile to get rid of it, even after running ommodu ... --recovery N.

With SWA, I have to logoff and log back on in order to make the recovery folder appear or disappear (although this might be how it's supposed to work).

Also, it seems that there are never any items in the recovery folder. I have the system set to empty users' waste baskets after 1 day but their recovery folders are always empty. Are there any settings that need to be implemented? I thought that it should just work straight off the bat. Just to be safe, I manually set the expiry period in general.cfg, even though there is supposed to be a default value of 7 days:

Code: Select all

[root@merlin ~]# grep RECOVERY /var/opt/scalix/mn/s/sys/general.cfg
RECOVERY_FOLDER_EXPIRY_TIME=7d

This looks like a fantastic feature so I'd really like to start taking advantage of it!

Bug 12083 is marked private, but is focused on this issue.

I can't see anything in there that would prevent it from becoming public. Let me check.

In any case, it's a known bug, and is being worked on.

Hi,
There are some restrictions associated with the Recovery folder:
    - The feature is only available/active for Small Business and Enterprise Edition licenses.

    - For the 11 release - the Recovery folder is not supported for SmartCache Outlook profiles. The Recovery folder may become visible in the SmartCache environment, but will always be empty.
So the Recovery folder feature is fully functional for SWA, IMAP and non-SmartCache Outlook users with Small Business or Enterprise licenses.
