Wrong displayed Subjects in Outlook 2007: =?ISO-8859-1?Q?

Postby Starko » Fri Oct 15, 2010 4:54 am

Hello,
we have a customer who bought a new Scalix server from us.
Now we have the problem, that people who receive E-Mails with umlauts in it (ä, ö, ü) have a destroyed subject:

It now looks like this:

Code: Select all

=?ISO-8859-1?Q?Hallo!_Das_ist_ein_Umlaut_Test!_=E4?=

The E-mail I sent looked like this originally:

Code: Select all

Hallo! Das ist ein Umlaut Test! ä

But this problem only appears in Outlook 2007! All Outlook 2003 clients do not have the problem and in Scalix Web Access everything is also fine.

The Scalix Server is version, 11.4.6 and the connector also.
We have excluded, that the problem results of old XP installations, by installing a brand new XP Pro Sp3 with all updates + Outlook 2k7 SP2 + Connector and the problem still appears..

I hope that were all infos you need!

Is there a solution for this problem now. I've the same problem.

I use Outlook 2007 on the desktop computer and on notebooks. On the notebooks the reduce traffic option is on, on the desktop this option is off.
SmartCache is activated on both. The desktop run OK, but the notebooks have this issue.

Any solution to solve this problem ?

I've done some investigations about this problem.
- It works fine with Win7 and OL2007 there are no problems with the MIME encoded headers. (Scalix Connector with SmartCache)
- It does not work with WinXP SP3 and OL2007. It's doesn't matter if traffic reduce is enabled or not. (Scalix Connector with SmartCache)
- It does not work with WinXP SP3 and OL2007. (Scalix Connector without SmartCache)
- It works with WinXP SP3 and OL2007 if the connection runs over IMAP. (IMAP => Scalix Server)

Always the scalix connector is in use then the problem occures.

By the way the problem also exists in folder names with special characters.

No, I'm sorry.
I ask every two weeks about the ticket status, and I always get the same answer:

Last answer is from 14/02/2011
Hello,

The issue is still under discussion with our top level management and will update you as soon as we get a lead on this.
