Is there an ETA on a fix for this, or is there a workaround available besides using Fire Fox? :)

Hi,
IE 7 is is in beta 2 now. I know that the M$ release schedule is never on time, but I have users wanting to install this (and some I haven't migrated yet may already have it).
Is there a schedule for when this will work? I've already run into one user we had problems with....
TIA,
chrisj

Our policy on browser support is to support the versions that are on General Availability, i.e. not beta.

Until Microsoft releases IE7 formally, we will not be providing support for it within our product. If this happens before the next major release, due later this year, we will try to provide support but this depends on how close to our release it becomes available. If it happens after the next release, we will base our decision on business cases.

Cheers

Dave

It looks like IE7 will be released this month and pushed out to everyone shortly thereafter. I know it has casued some outlook issues, does SWA work in it?

IE7 Is Coming This Month...Are you Ready?

The final release of IE7 is fast approaching … and I mean really fast … and will be delivered to customers via Automatic Updates a few weeks after it’s available for download. We want to ensure that you are ready and the information below will help get you there.

Compatibility with sites, extensions and applications has been a very high priority for us as we develop new features, enhance the existing features and move the platform forward to be more secure and standards compliant. We are continually listening to feedback from our customers, partners and leaders in the industry to resolve major compatibility issues to ensure our common customers have a great experience with IE7. As we make key improvements in areas such as layout and security, some changes need to be made by site owners to work smoothly with IE7. We have produced detailed documentation, tools and other resources to assist site, extension and application owners in their testing and development efforts to ensure they are compatible with IE7. We have also proactively worked with hundreds of companies to resolve issues that were reported through our beta testing to ensure those issues were resolved before IE7 is released.

These efforts have been ongoing since last year and have been extremely successful but we can’t ensure 100% compatibility without your help. We need you to test and ensure your sites, extensions, and applications are ready for IE7. We strongly encourage you to do the following ASAP:

Download, install and test your products with IE7 RC 1 –This is the fastest and best way to test for compatibility issues.

Download the IE7 Readiness Toolkit - This toolkit pulls together a number of important resources to help you prepare for IE7:

Developer and IT Pro readiness check lists,
Detailed documentation on important changes in IE7,
Testing and debugging guidance,
Tools for testing, debugging and investigating issues,
And more…

Download and use the Application Compatibility Toolkit – Helps test browser-based applications to ensure they work with IE7.

Visit the Microsoft Internet Explorer Developer Center – You will find an array of important information for developers.

Use the Information Index for Internet Explorer7 – Think of this as a table of contents linking you to documentation, blog posts, whitepapers and other information on IE7.

Read the IE Team Blog – Use the search feature on the right to find previous posts on almost any topic you can think of with regard to IE7.

What if my organization is not going to be ready for IE7 in time?

Organizations that are using Automatic Updates in their environments can block the AU deployment of IE7. For more details check out the “Options for Blocking Automatic Deliveryâ€

You beat me to it, jaga.

Any update on this? Scalix will have a big problem on their hands if IE7 breaks ScalixConnect and SWA...

Maybe this will help:

Outlook does crash when meeting invite is accepted. It appears that the meeting invite does in fact record when accepted but Outlook crashes.

When will Scalix release a fix?

With the release of IE7 and with Automatic updates soon pushing this down to users, does Scalix have any plans to release a V10 fix?

What are other Non-Active Directory Scalix customers with Automatic updates configured going to do to prevent downloading and installation of IE7?

This update from Microsoft looks like it is going to cause a lot of headaches for IT departments.

Agreed. Can we get a definitive response from someone at Scalix?

Not supporting a browser that 80% of the world is soon to be using just is not acceptable from a business standpoint.

Dear Scalix Customer or Partner:

As you are probably aware, Microsoft is aggressively marketing Internet Explorer 7 (IE 7) and encouraging users to install it. We understand that they intend to proactively download IE 7 to users with Windows Update turned on, possibly as early as November 1.

Currently, there are three likely problems that we are aware of. The first issue is Bug 11319 . In summary, with IE 7 loaded, running Outlook with the Scalix connector, if you create a meeting invitation and add others, when you hit Send, Outlook crashes. We have identified the likely root cause of this problem and are working diligently on a fix. Please stay tuned as we should have an update soon.

The second issue is Bug 13539. The issue here is that Umlaut characters are displayed incorrectly in Contacts in Scalix Web Access (SWA). This problem only manifests itself when these characters are entered via an ALT+0xxx key combination. Characters entered directly from a localized keyboard work properly.

The third issue is Bug 13541. This issue is the same as Bug 13539 except that it impacts the Scalix Admin Console (SAC). This problem only manifests itself when these characters are entered via an ALT+0xxx key combination. Characters entered directly from a localized keyboard work properly.

Thank you,
The Scalix Team

Any news? This is a pretty big deal that scalix has known about for months....

If you visit Bugzilla to look at the bug report, you will see that the problem has resolution code "Fixed".

What that means is that development believe that they have fixed the problem in the most current cut of the source.

However, that needs to go through thorough quality assurance, along with other fixes that have been made before the fix is allowed out into the wild ...

Regards,
Gren.

Thanks gren, I noticed that it was marked as fixed and was just hoping for more news. That being said, it is private again.
