I have been trialling Scalix (using the community edition) for three months and have an unusual problem that affects Outlook users only. When the user sends an email everything works fine except that the resulting entry in their sent items mailbox shows as unread. Right clicking the folder and selecting “Mark All as Read” resolves the problem but obviously it’s quite annoying for the user. If the same user sends an email using either SWA or from their iPhone (IMAP/SMTP connection) then everything works fine (the email appears in sent items and is not marked as unread, even in Outlook).
[UPDATE] I have noticed that this only happens when the email is typed out and sent before Outlook autosaves it to the Drafts folder. If I type an email and it goes to Drafts and then I click "Send" then the sent item is not marked as unread (i.e. its the expected behaviour this way).
I have tried the following fixes with no success:
• Re-install Scalix Connect (problem reproducible 100% of the time)
• Try a different client (problem reproducible on two machines both W7/OL2007)
• Reinstall Scalix Server from scratch in a fresh VM (same problem as before)
• Send email via something other than Outlook (no problem, but does not fix outlook sends)
n.b. I am also experiencing (possibly unrelated) problems with Scalix Connect add-ins, Categories and Tasks in Outlook – please see list at the end of this post.
