Cannot Open This Item. Direct Reference Supplied Is Invalid.

We are using Outlook 2007 with Scalix Connect (no SmartCache) and all of sudden, an entire subdirectory of a user's inbox (which contains thousands of emails) responds with "Cannot Open This Item. Direct Reference Supplied Is Invalid." when trying to open any message stored there. After clearing her imap cache, they displayed correctly in SWA. Prior to resetting the cache, the folders all displayed as empty.

I have run:
sxfixdef -f username with no reported problems

and:
omscan -AvxSFU username which fixed some complaints about incorrect sizes

None of this has solved the Outlook issue. I suppose next I will create a new profile for the user. Any other suggestions?

Richard

***Update***

I just created a new Outlook profile - no joy. Same problems.

Hi,

did you also try removing the contents of her 00000v8.ofs/* directory and rebuilding smart cache?

You may want to try using SWA to drag all of those emails into a new folder

I just tried this with one of the folders. I logged in using SWA and moved the emails to a new folder. I then when into Outlook, and presto! Almost all of them are now fine. However, there are still a couple of holdouts that are still throwing the error. Interesting. Thanks for the tip though.

This is happening with more and more folders. What's the deal?

Hi,

have you already tried to sxmboxexp, create a new user and import again?
