Hi,

We got someone running on scalix which has a problem with duplicate e-mails. Outlook shows the same messages 2 times, with the same message id, but the corrupt message does not have a return path field in the headers.

The following errors are shown in the activesync log:

The cache mentions the folder: 'ÐÆ&'

After synchronisation the above mails are duplicated in outlook.


How to fix ?

I'd start by checking the user's rules (both client and server-side). Also, see what happens if you open it in a non-SC profile, or on a different client PC.

The problem happens when opening the mailbox in outlook... If the user works from webmail or an imap client this doesnt happen.
As soon as the messages are duplicated in outlook its also duplicated in webmail and in another imap client.


I have looked at the server side rules, nothing seems to be wrong there... Will try to look at the users client side rules later.

Is that the real name of the folder?

If so rename it so its not using special characters. As i rule i always tell people to never use % & / , ' * etc in folder names.

About the only ones which i know are OK are _ and +. the . will work also, such as in a folder called "1. put_me_at_the_top".

You could potentially rename it via SWA or outlook if possible, but the smartcache might still have difficulty with syncing the changes. If this is the case you may require a reset of the smart cache.
