Outlook 2003 - Outbox email stuck ?

Hi
We have a user that constantly have emails getting stuck in his outbox. They never leave. Now I have done some reading and this was a bug but was apparently fixed in the version we're using, or was it ? The other thing i came across was that there could be a time difference between the server and the PC (laptop in this case). We use NTP service that is syncs once a day , don't know if this should happen more often? The user can send the emails by forwarding them (from outbox) and deleting the original message (from the outbox). But this has created problems were his clients have contacted him and said that the email has reached them more than once. The messages is not showing up in the "outbox" in the Scalix Webmail client.
Info :
- MS OFFICE 2003 (SP3) was the same with SP2
- Windows XP PRO SP3
- Scalix Connector 11.4.3
- Scalix Server V11.4.3.4837
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. As the client is getting really upset since none of the proposed solutions have been working.

Hi,
Yes we are using smartcache, and the client commented that the mail only get's stuck on emails with attachments. No attachments and emails flies through without hassle.

Its most likely a problem with an outlook plugin. Check your com-addins. In 11.4.3 things like itunes and desktop search plugins screwed with the scalix connector, as well as a lot of Anti-Virus plugins.
What AV software are you using and what com-addins are enabled in Outlook 2003?

I have had clients with AVG (not the antivirus i would recommend) and it has broke Scalix. Depends on the version. In some cases with AVG you have to actually disable the email integration in the AVG Control Centre itself.

Have disables avg email checking under the AVG control panel and there is no items listed under the comm-addins anymore. Have my fingers crossed, will know by the end of today if it works.

Ps : I don't like AVG either, working to get something else installed there.

That unfortunately did not fix the problem, I was really hoping it would... my client is getting a bit frustrated and I am running out of ideas. a New issue popped up and that is that some emails are coming in as attachments. The email body would be empty and there will be an attachment (html file) with the actual message. This is on the same user. Should I rebuild the smart cache perhaps ?

yuk!! Although i don't see anyway Scalix would "re-write" the messages and save them into attachments.
Try the following:
1. do the dud emails as attachments view properly in SWA? if so problem must be outlook.
2. Try a new outlook profile, with and without smartcache. Are there any differences?

It appears that when the option:
"Tools>Options>Email Options>Advanced Email Options>In Folders other than the Inbox, save replies with the original message"
Is checked, then this problem is consistent as follows:
Messages sent as a new email item send out fine and are moved from the outbox to the sent items folder.
Replies/forwards from within the inbox send out fine and those replies are retained in the inbox (per the setting to retain replies in the folder from which they were sent) - so this is normal.
Replies/forwards sent from any sub-folder hang in the outbox, although the email is still sent to the recipient.
I have been able to reproduce this error on my profile as well.
Currently, I do not have a work around for this issue, other than turning off the “save replies” option listed above.

I am experiencing this exact same issue.
2 different users. Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2003.
Both users are using Smart Cache.

Still no luck, the client went on a brief holiday and when he returned it worked fine for around 5 days and then returned to it's old ways. (Mail with attachments stay in Outbox) I also found a small error in the Windows Application log :
"Faulting application outlook.exe, version 11.0.8169.0, stamp 465f28e3, faulting module sxualo32.dll, version 11.4.3.8048, stamp 494b60a2, debug? 0, fault address 0x0007ed68"Paul looked at your notes but that feature is switched off by default so we're not using it at all. Thanks for the notes, anyway
