Missing messages in SmartCache

Postby jangi » Wed May 06, 2009 2:19 pm

A user was having Outlook issues that pointed to a classic "Rebuild SmartCache."

I did (Scalix Properties->Support->Reset SmartCache). After restarting outlook the user was able to use Outlook while SmartCache rebuilt itself.
After getting the popup that he should restart Outlook, he did. The messages in his Inbox dropped from over 8,000 to under 150.

I repeated this procedure, repeated again with a new outlook profile, tried pre-creating the cache on the server, re-installed the Scalix plugin, etc... with no success.
I had to create a non-SmartCache profile for this user.

Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas on troubleshooting? I'm stuck. There were no obvious errors or issues.

Outlook 2003 w/ Scalix server/plugin 11.4.3.

Thanks,
James

I suggest you check how many emails are listed in his mailbox in SWA or a different IMAP client.

I should've mentioned that... SWA matches his non-smartcache profile, over 8,000 messages. They only disappear after the cache 'activates'.

Wonder if the cache doesn't destroy itself properly? If it was my machine I would create an entirely new profile, never used before, and see if I get the same behaviour. That would rule out issues in the current profile. It could also potentially be a workstation/user profile issue, which you can check by creating a SC Profile on a different PC and see if the behaviour stays the same.

Also, it may be useful to see if the Outlook logs (look in Tools -> Scalix Properties) as well as the SC synclog shows anything.
