I'm trying to open another user's email but Outlook will not display the contents of the folders. It will show (some of) the folders shared (shows inbox/outbox/sent items - just the folders, not the mail headers) , and the new mail count(!), but when trying to display the contents Outlook will give the error: "Cannot display the folder. Microsoft Office Outlook cannot access the specified folder location. The operation failed." For folders and "Cannot display the folder. Microsoft Office Outlook cannot access the specified folder location." for the root folder. The outlook connector log gives weird characters and vague errors:

We have the same issue on our side. "Cannot display the folder. Microsoft Office Outlook cannot access the specified folder location. The operation failed."

First our user had very long for opening the mailbox of another user. sometimes outlook crashes. now i updated scalix and scalix connector. i removed it from his scalix account over outlook and tried to add it again. Now i become the message above when i try to access the folder. i also re-created the full profile. nowthing works. webmail works but for our user its no option to use webmail, he want use outlook.

We running scalix 11.4.3.12339 on CentOS 5.2 with Outlook 2007 and scalix connector 11.4.3.8048.

Edit: Now i receive the Message (sorry german) "Der Ordner kann nicht erweitert werden. Diese Ordnergruppe kann nicht geöffnet werden. Der Informationsspeicher steht zurzeit nicht zur Verfügung", when i try to access the other Mailbox, by expanding Folder oder click on it."

We have the same problem with suse 11.0, scalix 11.4.2, scalix outlook connector 11.4.2 and outlook 2007.

Has nobody an idear to solve this problem?

I do not know if it makes sense to just cry "me too" but maybe this post gives this problem some more awareness because i am having the problem too

If it is important in any way: The Outlook Connector runs on German Windows XP Prof with German Office 2007 Standard

It is interesting, but we have this problem on German windows xp and German office 2007 too.

And I have an installation with sles 10, scalix 11.4.3, scalix outlook connector 11.4.3, German outlook 2007 and German windows xp, but it works fine.

I hope, it finds somebody who knows more about this problem!

We have a simillar problem here with one of our users. first we think its a problem because the mailbox is realy big (was 20GB), but now it is smaller, but it doesn't work.

We are running scalix 11.4.3 on CentOS 5.2. The Client is a Outlook 2007 on a XP with SP3. Both German Version. Scalix Connector Version: 11.4.3.8048.

The intressing is, that the permission's for the other mailbox for include is correct. (ex. in Webmail it works fine with include). But in Outlook i can include the mailbox, i see it in the fiolderlist, but no expand is possible. Other intresting is, that the menupoint "Include User's Mailbox..." is gray by this user.

On my outlook with same os , outlook and scalix connector it works fine, and also the menupoint above is not gray.

I make an "omscan -Aafvx" and it seems to work in this time. I don't know why.

Same problem here on an english outlook 2007 on an english windows xp installation ...

Tried the omscan fix but that doesnt change anything ...

Any other tips to resolve this?

I have seen this type of thing happen recently and it was outlook plugins causing the issue. i had upgraded to 11.4.4 and prior all permissions and shared folders were working across multiple workstations. Nothing changed except the server and client upgrade to 11.4.4 (from 11.4.3).

Long story short it turned out that on the "busted" machine "office live" addins were at fault. Disabling them via the trust centre-> manage com addins (and and manage exchange client extensions) and restarting outlook did the trick.

Check your addins that are enabled. i recommend the following as a rough guide:

disable itunes (apparrently compatible in 11.4.4 now)
disable windows search (same as itunes)
disable sharepoint addins, onenote addins, genuine advantage addins, office live, pdfmoutlook, exchange extension properties pages.

That list is by no means 100% proven to help issues. i just know that in my multiple setups, i do not need to use any of them in a Scalix environment so turning them off can alleviate pain down the track.

3/4 of problems regarding outlook and scalix are due to incompatible plugins in my experience.

Thanks for the hints, but that didnt work ..

I disabled one ore more and restarted .. In the end the only active addins i had enabled where the scalix ones, all outlook addins where disabled.

Too bad it didnt resolve the issue...

I must say that it's almost a clean install of outlook, i didn't use outlook before ..

I have a total clean install now, and it seems to work ..

could this be one of the old connectors mixed in ? I also had a connector installed for a similar exchange connect product i tested , could this cause it ?

I have to install this for a client on monday , i hope this is gonna work ....

So I have a new scalix 11.4.6 installation on a new sles 10 installation and I cannot open other user’s mailboxes. I disabled all active addins, so that the only active addins is the scalix one. It is the same issue one new clean installed win xp pro pc with outlook 2007 and scalix outlook connector 11.4.6 and old win xp pro pcs with outlook 2007 and scalix outlook connector 11.4.6 on which it works fine with scalix 11.4.3 before.

I have a fine working 11.4.3 which it works fine, the only impotant difference I see, is the scalix version. So I am worried about upgrade this server to version 11.4.6.

Has somebody an idea to solve the issue on version 11.4.6?

As additional information, I get everytime when I will open the mailbox of an other user the following error message:
