I have seen this type of thing happen recently and it was outlook plugins causing the issue. i had upgraded to 11.4.4 and prior all permissions and shared folders were working across multiple workstations. Nothing changed except the server and client upgrade to 11.4.4 (from 11.4.3).
Long story short it turned out that on the "busted" machine "office live" addins were at fault. Disabling them via the trust centre-> manage com addins (and and manage exchange client extensions) and restarting outlook did the trick.
Check your addins that are enabled. i recommend the following as a rough guide:
disable itunes (apparrently compatible in 11.4.4 now)
disable windows search (same as itunes)
disable sharepoint addins, onenote addins, genuine advantage addins, office live, pdfmoutlook, exchange extension properties pages.
That list is by no means 100% proven to help issues. i just know that in my multiple setups, i do not need to use any of them in a Scalix environment so turning them off can alleviate pain down the track.
3/4 of problems regarding outlook and scalix are due to incompatible plugins in my experience.
