Yes, it does; however it typically excludes too much to be highly useful. I think going for a full sync with the registry setting in place is the better option. We're planning to provide further configurability of what to sync and what not in a future release (no specific target date/release yet!)

Hi Florian

thanks for the response,

In that case this will not help me as caching inbox and sent Items wth headers only set has set him very close to the 2gb limit already.

The customer has asked me to archive his sent Items folder which I will do over the weekend. That should significantly reduce his Smart Cache Size.

come to think about it if I could only cache the last 30 days of data, that would allow me to cache his folders with out exceeding the 2GB limitation.

Thanks for the help.

Sincerely,

Sideband,

how big is his mailbox server-side? (i.e. according to sxdu and also according to omtidyu, which can be used without the "delete" option to get counts on messages per folder, e.g. "omtidyu -u 'Mr User' -B -Tiosflw")

What value are you using for the said registry key at this time?

As I said, my maibox is pretty huge, both in actual size as well as in number of messages and it works just fine for me....

Florian

i ran the command as you specified:

Code: Select all

[root@grumpy opt]# omtidyu -u 'Geoff Barry' -B -Tiosflw
Deletable items for 'Geoff Barry /sbgk,us/CN=Geoff Barry'

  InTray: 4844 messages

  OutTray: 0 messages

  Folder 'Search Area': 3 items

  Folder 'Calendar': 256 items

  Folder 'Contacts': 772 items

  Folder 'Drafts': 70 items

  Folder 'Notes': 0 items

  Folder 'Tasks': 1 items

  Folder 'Trash': 30 items

  Folder 'Journal': 0 items

  Folder 'Archives': 0 items

  Folder 'RSS Feeds': 0 items

  Folder 'Junk E-mail': 0 items

  Folder 'Junk E-mail': 0 items

  List Area: 0 messages

... And the result with sxdu:

Code: Select all

sxdu -ha "Geoff Barry"

[root@grumpy opt]# sxdu -haw "Geoff Barry"
8.2G    5.5M    Geoff Barry /sbgk,us/CN=Geoff Barry

I remember setting that registry setting to around 400h (1024 bytes) if I am not mistaken.

This is not my largest user, my largest user is double that or around 16G for a mail box.

thanks for the help Florian.

Hello Everyone,

I have reset this registry setting to 1024 bytes (Dec) which is 400h. I am currently rebuilding his cache to see if I can make any headway on this issue.

I will let you know how this comes out.

This has resolved his issue, currently he is caching all of his boxes, his cache file is 525MB and I see that it has externalized attachments to the actual file system. As possible feedback, this particular setting should be accessible with in the smart settings, not through the registry. Installation should add this setting to the registry and set it to its default (64K)

It is important to note (its not mentioned in the documentation that I remember) that if you set this registry setting after smartcache has been populated, that you should delete the profile and rebuild it so that smartcache data file can be populated according to the new settings. Otherwise this setting will only count for new messages coming in.

Thanks for the help.

Sincerely,

Sideband Samruai
