Can't uninstall/over write scalix connect 9 toupgrade to 10

Postby lleung » Fri Feb 24, 2006 8:15 pm

Helllo,

A new problem had came about with my limited scalix connect 10 deployment.
I have noticed one of the workstations can't seem to remove Scalix connect 9 from it's system. Here's what I've observed:

* Using the "remove" function from the 10 installer will end with a failed diallog
* Usiing window's add and remove program function will visually remove the entry out of it's list of programs. However the binary seem to stil llinger.
* Scalix connect 10 installer will always fail at the end.
* Starting Outlook, and viewing the scalix connect version after running the failed 10 installation will yield a version of 9.

My speculation is that there are some scalix binaries buried somewhere with no write access for anyone, including administrations users. Does anyone know where I might find those binaries so that I might try to manually extract them out of Outlook?

First question is what error messages are you seeing when the install/remove fails ?

How were the original binaries installed ?

Cheers

The removal seem to be fine, no error message.
However, when I try to install Scalix Connect 10, everything seem to work until the "Finish" button is pressed. It would then pause for a few seconds, and pops up a very generic message simply stating the installation has failed. It is very nondescript.

After that, outlook can still be restarted, but the Scalix connect version will remain at 9.

I believe the original installation was by the end user's account which has administrative rights.

Are you logged on as administrator for the uninstall? For the r10 installation?

All of our files go into C:\Program Files\Scalix\Connect. After the uninstall are there still files in that directory?

Thanks,
Don
