Outlook 2007 - can not open shared calendar

Postby ServerStorm » Tue Jan 19, 2010 2:51 pm

Hi,

I have done a lot of googling and search these forums extensively and I have been unable to find what is needed. We have a customer on Scalix 11.4.3. They had been using Outlook 2003 and were able to open another user's shared calendar fine. However in Outlook 2007 the option to 'Open another users calendar' is not shown.

I don't know if Outlook 2007 users cannot access the shared calendar; or there is just a different way (that I have not found yet) to access someone's shared calendar from Outlook 2007.

Unfortunately I use Outlook 2003 and don't have a copy of 2007 so it is hard for me to do tests until after hours at the clients. By then most of you are not in the forums to help.

Can anyone post steps to open a shared calendar in Outlook 2007?

Your help is appreciated.

Regards,
Steve M.

Solved this. For anyone else here are the specs and steps:

Scalix 11.4.4
O.S. Proxmox -> Centos 5
Scalix connector 11.4.5.9045

Three step process:
1) Set permissions (roles) on calendars that you will share. To do this:
[*] Select the calendar tab
[*] Under 'My Calendar' right click on the calendar (icon) and select properties.
[*] Once the 'My Calendar' properties open, select the permissions tab.
[*] Choose a role (fore example 'reviewer') or set your own custom permissions (make sure at a minimum that 'folder visible' and 'read' are selected.

2) In Outlook go to tools -> Scalix properties.
[*] Click the 'Advanced' tab and add the Scalix user to the 'add additional mailboxe'. For example, after clicking 'add addition mailbox', a field asking for the name of the mailbox appears. If you had a user call 'Sally Sarkanski' and you had trouble remembering the spelling of her last name just put 'Sally S' in the field. When you select 'Ok' then Outlook will suggest mailboxes that match 'Sally S' and you would choose 'Malibox - Sally Sarkanski'. Then select 'Ok'

3) In Outlook go to File->'Open User Folder'
[*] A name button, field, and a type (of folder) dialog appears.
[*] Choose 'Calendar' as the type.
[*] Don't type their name. For example if it is Sally Sarkanski choose the Name button.
[*] Make sure that the list that you are using is the 'System' list
[*] Choose 'Sally Sarkanski'.

Now that the steps are complete you can go to your calendar and you will see under 'Peoples Calendars' the users Calender is shown and you can toggle the user on and off using the selection box located next to the Calendar.

Hope this helps.
Regards,
Steve
