Private Meetings + Standard Resources

Postby nikar » Tue Nov 24, 2009 6:29 am

Hi,

I'm sorry if this has already been answered. I haven't been able to find an unambiguous answer in searches of the wiki, bugzilla and forum but would appreciate any pointers to the right information.

We are running Scalix Connect for MS Outlook 11.4.2.7760 (kind of antiquated, I know - an upgrade is in the works but some other issues have made it a bit complicated, outside the scope of this post) with server version 11.4.5.13150 and are having some issues with meetings marked as private when standard resources are involved.

If a premium user creates a meeting set as private and invites a standard resource (correctly, as a resource), then no premium user (even the meeting creator or invitees) is able to see or alter anything about the meeting in the resource's calendar. There is even an immediate error dialog box during creation of the meeting, saying the user doesn't have the right to use the resource. The only way to see or change anything about the meeting is to log in as the standard resource.

Now, my question is: is this expected behaviour? If not, would it be fixed by upgrading to a later connector or server version, or is a fix in the works?

Thanks in advance.

I've just tested it with the 11.4.5.9045 connector and got the same behaviour (same server version as always, which by the way is running on CentOS).

Oh, and we're using Outlook 2007.

Through SWA it works a bit better - it doesn't give me the "you don't have the right to use this resource" error and does let my changes to the meeting instance in my own calendar filter through to the private meeting, although it does have a few bugs still. For example, if I change the time of the meeting, the old private meeting remains in the resource's calendar and a new one appears at the new times set. However, it definitely seems like most of the problem is in the connector, or its interaction with Outlook...
