This would be a fantastic enhancement. We have users with a valid need to have both Scalix and external POP/IMAP accounts in the same profile, who have been waiting for a long time on this issue. From the other posts in this thread, it is clear that others are in a similar situation.

just thinking out aloud i wonder if this would work........
setup an additional pop3 account in scalix, but turn off the receiving, set it to 127.0.0.1 etc. So effectively you only use it to send, and ultimately you can use an alternative address for the sending. Worst case you might be able to have a pst setup for it to store sent items if it cant write sent items into the scalix mailbox.
Of course this is definitely not supported by Scalix at this stage and its use it at your own risk, i haven't got the time to try it at the moment.
