Aliases in Outlook / Scalix

Postby humpty » Tue Sep 01, 2009 7:15 am

Is there any way to have aliases in Outlook + Scalix?

Thunderbird allows this very easily, but the combination of Outlook and Scalix doesn't. In particular we have a couple of users who need to send e-mail as accounts@xxx.com. Accounts is a group on Scalix but when we try and send we get 'you've not been granted permission' . Do we have to set these accounts up as premium users to get this to work? I'd really hate that as we have about a dozen of these 'generic' e-mail addresses.

If you're using Outlook in POP/IMAP mode, then you can configure multiple From addresses. If you're using the connector (or SWA) that is not possible. You have to configure these other address as premium users (if they are a group just setup a redirect rule so all mail ends up delivered to the group), and then grant everyone who should be able to send from that address delegate access.

That's what I was afraid of. I've been forced to give in and provide Outlook for everyone and use the connector so that delegation and stuff work right and we can use shared calendars.

Coming from Thunderbird it's a hideous mess. Every time I reply to a message I have to cutr and paste the replies etc around as Outlook does it wrong. Crashes all the time as well.
