Outlook 2007 Shared Calendars

Postby lissom » Wed Sep 03, 2008 2:34 am

I have Scalix Outlook connector installed and users with Premium accounts.

I cannot add other users Calendars, nor see the public Calendars nor share a Calendar in Outlook. The only choices I have in outlook are:
How to Share Calendars

Search Calendars Online

Send a Calendar....
Publish My Calendar...

Add New Group

According to outlook help I should also see:
Open a Shared Calendar
Search Calendars Online

Is there something more I need to do to enable this in Outlook (the calendars are appearing in Scalix Web Access interface).

2007 Issue

Postby zweimeter » Tue Sep 30, 2008 4:03 am

I have the same problem with outlook 2007. I'm not able to open our public calendar or other users calendars, in outlook 2003 it's no problem at all. Were using Small Business Edition.

Does anyone know a workaround?

thanks

Is there no solution to share calendar with Outlook 2007?

I have set up a Scalix Server 11.4.3 using latest connector.
Added two premium users

In webmail, added each user to the other user as a Publishing Editor. In webmail,
I can view and set/delete appt in the other's calendar.

In Outlook 2007, I see the permission changes, but also do not have the
"Open a Shared Calendar" choice either.

Synronization/Smartcache is working fine (along with email).

Any Ideas?

(Edit - Just fired up an old Windows XP PC and Outlook 2003 and I have *no* problems
with Shared Calendars. This definitely sounds like a Outlook 2007 issue to me)

OK - I just tried this and it seemed like it worked, but it's really doesn't seem
like the same thing (or is it?)

From Outlook 2007,
File->Open->Other User's Folder

Typed the name of the other user and Folder Type of "Calendar"
and now it shows up in my list of calendars to view. I can set appt
in the other calendar, but is it really the same thing??

This isn't because Outlook expects Exchange and this is MAPI, would it?
That wouldn't explain 2003 vx 2007 differences ....

Does it work if you go to Tools -> Scalix Properties -> Advanced and add an additional mailbox? Just type in the first part of the user's name and it should give you a list and/or tell you the user doesn't exist.

If I do so and click to "Calendar in Mailbox- Username" the calendar folder could not be found.

OK - That added the other user's calendar under "My Calendars" instead of "People's Calendars". Also now shows the other user's mailbox under "Mail".
Seems the 1st way seems closer to the final answer.

Hi,

search for the file HOSTS at your client. Edit the file and add a line like:
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx domain.tld
(xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx = IP of the SCALIX Server)

save the file.

That's it.
