Smartcache won't start

In our company we're using Scalix Server 11.4.3 with Outlook 2007 SP1 and ScalixConnector 11.4.3.8048 and we have the problem that smartcache just won't start, except with two user accounts.

These two we're created when Scalix was introduced with an earlier version. At this time smartcache wasn't working very well so we waited for an update and all other users didn't had smartcache enabled. After the update smartcache works fine and without error at this two users. On the same notebook where smartcache works with my user, it doesn't even start (there's no "stamp" in the icon bar) with my "Test User" profile. The test user was fresh created on AD and Scalix. Also Outlook doesn't crash, just smartcache doesn't start up.

I opened a ticket at Scalix support and send them the mailbox export of "Test User" and there it worked fine. Answer was they don't know what the problem is :(

May someone of you has any ideas?

I also tried cleaning the 00000v8.ofs and rebuildling smartcache, but nothing changed.

looking at the scalixmail.csv file to see what it's reporting about a failure
(with C:\Programme\Scalix\Connect\SXLOGCONF.EXE you can set the smartchache loglevel)

I tried that, but in the file is nothing like an failure or error, also if I put the loglevel on highest. I also looked in the task manager while starting outlook and with my test user it opens the same processes like with my working user.

Are there maybe any options that can be set on the server? I ask because it's working with two "old" users and I don't know if our service provider may changed something after installation.

without smartcache its ok, or not?
maybe mailbox issue?

without smartcache everything works fine, even with smartcache enabled Outlook doesn't crash and works normal. Just cache isn't created and no icon show's up =/

i've tried the commands you posted, and in my eyes everything seems fine. My test user was created some days ago and postbox size is about 300kB (6 or 7 mails just for testing). If I look in the synclog for the test user (which is created in application data also if no icons shows up) it writes:
"09:25:19 SmartCache wurde deaktiviert, weil der Server die Funktion nicht unterstützt, zu wenig freier Plattenspeicherplatz vorhanden ist, die Mailbox auf einen anderen Server verschoben wurde oder der Administrator die Benutzung von SmartCache für dieses Konto verboten hat."

Which means smartcache was disabled, because the server doesn't support this function, not enough free disk capacitiy, mailbox was moved to another server or admin doesn't allow usage of smartcache for this user.
On my testing notebook are 32,2GB left on harddisk, the user was fresh created and smartcache is activated and prepared on SAC. So the last 3 points couldn't be the failure I think. But if I look at the first (server doesn't support this function) it makes me wonder, because we have two users where is works without problems.

in sac you have enable smartcache for this user?
you wrote that with your account smartcache works fine.
did you use the same windows account? if not maybe some windows policy limit the disk space for the user?

I now got it working... Because the entry in the logfile made me wonder I looked through every option in SAC. At the mail server properties is the smartcache default option. This option was disabled, I activated it and everything works fine...

I think our service provider disabled it in the past because of different problems.
Without you I wouldn't have found the cause so fast! Thanks a lot!
