New mail notification / pop-up window

Postby Clemens » Sat Jan 07, 2006 8:24 pm

Hello,

I was wondering if there is any way of setting up a scalix connect filter or any other method to inform the user that he's got a new message?

(Similar to the way it works when OL2003 simply uses POP to get emails)

Basically the problem is that we use quite a few nested folders that are not always open - so if a message arrives there, it would be good to be informed!

I have read the thread regarding the new item count on the folders and the auto-updating issue. I´m using the work-around with a subfolder in the important folders as suggested in that thread.

However, if the main folder is closed it obviously still doesn't show what it sub-folders contain (never did...)

So... are there any pop-up / blinking try icon or other possibilities for new mail notification?

Thanks!
Clemens

Hi Clemens,

With Outlook 2003 you do get a pop-up when new messages arrive in your inbox. I'll add a feature request to cover new messages in public folders.

Thanks,
Don

Hi,

first of all thanks for your reply :D

I know you get this message popping up when up when theres a new message in the inbox, but that´s not what I meant... there are two things about this popup:
1. it stays a maximum of 30 seconds
2. it only works for the inbox

Before I started using Scalix I had a filter set up in OL2003 to bring up a notification whenever a new mail arrives, no matter which folder it was filed to... this message stayed until you closed it and allowed you to open mails directly... see below:

Is there anyway of setting up something like this using Scalix???

Thanks for your time!!!

I have the same problem. Several people use folders and sub-folders that are not part of the inbox, but are on the server. They don't get the popup if the mail is moved to a folder via a rule. Also, some users have reported that when mail is filtered into these other folders, the folder name does not turn bold and the number of unread messages does not change, either. When just using Outlook without Scalix Connect, you can specify what folders you want to check in the send/receive settings. But, with Scalix Connect, the only option is the Inbox.

Hi,

I guess the thing you are looking for is this 3rd party product: http://www.slovaktech.com/remindermanager.htm it always shows reminders within all additional mb's public folders etc.

Cheers

Stefan
