Naming Violation (64) - Microsoft Outlook 2003

Postby jpkovacic » Tue Feb 07, 2006 12:28 am

I attempted to setup and access my company's directory via LDAP on Microsoft Outlook 2003. When I select the company directory in the Outlook 2003 address book, I get the following error:

Microsoft LDAP Directory
Naming Violation (64)

I had no problem accessing the company directory via LDAP on Mozilla Thunderbird. Is there some special configuration required in MS Outlook 2003 to eliminate this error?

Thanks,
Joe Kovacic

What is your search base?

Are you using Outlook in IMAP mode or with Scalix Connect? If the latter what version of Scalix Connect are you using?

Thanks,
Don

I apologize for the omission. The problem occurs in MS Outlook 2003 with IMAP mode. The search string is as follows: cn=scalix,o=Scalix,dc=ls-mail1,dc=logsec,dc=com

I haven't experienced any such problem with Enterprise accounts and Scalix connect.

Just use o=scalix as your search base and that should work better for you.

I figured out what was causing the error. When I was setting up the LDAP entry in Outlook 2003, I checked the "THIS SERVER REQUIRES ME TO LOG ON" option and entered my user name and password. With these entries, I receive the NAMING VIOLATION error. When I uncheck this setting, I no longer get this error and can query the company directory.

One more question: when I bring up the company (LDAP) directory in Outlook 2003, the address book lists no E-mails. Is there any setting (search base?) that would allow all of the company E-mail addresses to appear by default when I open the Outlook 2003 address book?

Thanks for all your help.

I don't believe that is possible as that is the nature of LDAP.
