Outlook errors with SC 9.4.2 in Office XP (repost)

Postby mikevl » Fri Jan 20, 2006 5:18 pm

Hi we have just installed Scalix CE 9.4.2 on RHEL4 and deployed the MAPI clients on Windows XP with Office XP (outlook XP)

2 issues have arrisen

1) The users get the message" Cannot start reminder service. Unable to show reminders. An enexpected error has occured. Reasons for the failure are unknown"

2) When adding contacts to the contact folder by right clicking on the "From" address and then going "add to contacts" the message " Cannot perform the requested operation. The command selected is not valid for this recipient. Unable to add recipient to contacts. The contacts folder cannot be found. The direct referencce supplied cannot be found"

Contacts can be seen when sending emails. This happens for all Outlook users.

Any help much appreciated.

Hi Mike,

For the reminders issue assuming outlook.exe is in the path below open a command prompt and run

Code: Select all

c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Outlook.exe /cleanreminders

If that doesn't work try creating a new unique profile. This is also the suggestion for the contacts issue as well. Do you have other email accounts e.g. IMAP or POP configured in the same profile? Please don't do that.

Have you applied all of the latest Windows and Office service packs?

Please check Tools/Options/Other/Advanced Options/Add-in Manager. Do you have all five Scalix and one Exchange extensions checked? Are you using any other Add-ins?

Regards,
Don

Hi I've done all of the above with same result.

These issues affect all Outlook XP users connecting to the server.

Many thanks

To reiterate Don's question - is Scalix the only eMail service in your Outlook profile?

Also, what language versions of Windows and Outlook are you using?

Certainly, the base platform you're using (Windows XP and Outlook XP) is used by many of our customers without this specific issue, so it is related to your particular installation and I believe we'll need to find out what's different first.

Cheers,
Florian.

we had the same problem after omcpoutu/omcpinu and solved it with
outlook.exe /resetfolders
afterwards there were 2 calendar folders and we deleted the "non system one"
finally everything works fine.

Hi No they are not using any other or addins to the Scalix profile.

I did the /resetfolders thing and that seemed to work so far.

Hey many thanks to all that have helped.
