Delegated user and permission error

Postby helmer » Thu Nov 03, 2005 3:56 pm

Hi all,

we have 5 Outlook 2003 users with Scalix 9.2.1. One user has delegated rights to see the inbox mailbox of his boss.

Sometimes happens that an new e-mail can't be opened by this delegated user. An error message appears when he clicks on the message: "can't display message, please double click the to display in a new windows". When he do this another error message appears that says that "You don't have permisison to perform that operation".

I checked the rights tab in the boss inbox mailbox and the delegated person has all rights set correctly. It is annoying because it happens 2 to 3 times a week and seems that it has nothing to do with permissions. I have to log onto boss mailbox and forward to the delegated user.

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks,

Frederico Helmer

Hi Frederico,

What version of Scalix Connect are you using? (Help/About Scalix Connect)

Thanks,
Don

Hi Frederico,

Also what does the error log file say for the designated user when he gets this error? (Tools/Scalix Properties/Support tab)

Thanks,
Don

Hi Frederico,

This may be a DNS issue. Try adding the ip address and FQDN to the delegated user's hosts file.

Thanks,
Don

Hii Don,

ok, but where do i have to create this file ? On the server or cliente side ? I use DHCP to manage IP addresses dynamically.

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

Frederico

Hi Frederico,

Looking through your logs it appears that this is a known problem with how we handle certainly MIME messages. There will be a fix in the next major release of Scalix for this. For now, you can forward the message to yourself and it will be readable.

Thanks,
Rachel

Can you tell me when the next major release will come out ?
