Blackberry / Scalix

Postby gmcooper » Thu May 08, 2008 10:37 am

Looking for best way to use Blackberry with Scalix. Looked at Notify in the past but too expensive for our small number of users. Would like to use Blackberry for email & calendar. Would be using latest generation of Blackberry (8830 or 8820).

Realize that lots of ways exist but looking for 'preferred method'.

Currently using 'forward' rule from Outlook to gmail account for email with filter. This works but not sure this is best and lots of duplication. This is only for email.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi

If your only looking to get email on the run, and sync contacts/calendars when you get back to the office. Then you can IMAP the mail back to your server.

I'm not experienced enough to describe everything, but..

We currently use BES to sync with Exchange - email/contacts/calendar. Everything is over the air and near real time.

Possible with Scalix? We really want to move away from Exchange.

Hi

At the moment NOTIFY is the best solution. It has the advantage of talking to a wide variety of mobiles such as Blackberry, Palm, Symbian and Windows mobile.

The next version of Scalix may contain Active Sync across the air as has been discussed in this forum already. That will also give access to many realtime synced devices without the need to install software on those devices and without any requirement for additional servers. Look back over this forum for details.
