Supporting StartTLS on Scalix SMTPD

Postby PaulHerron » Fri Mar 05, 2010 2:25 am

Is the Scalix SMTPD capable of supporting a STARTTLS request from another MTA for inbound traffic?

I easily configured SendMail to use STARTTLS for all our outbound (MTA-MTA) messages and, if it were listening, it could also accept inbound STARTTLS requests. But, by default, Scalix SMTPD listens directly on port 25. From what I have read here in the forums, it doesn't appear that Scalix SMTPD supports STARTTLS. Is this going to change? Can anyone suggest a workaround? I've seen some references to using SendMail to receive inbound mail requests but, I'm not sure how I hand those messages back off to Scalix after they arrive in SendMail. Does anyone have any tutorials they can share?

I know that thee are lots of messages flying around the internet in plain text but, it seems kinda silly to do that when a somewhat secure alternative is available.
