Messages Discarded

Postby shambler » Mon Sep 10, 2007 9:57 pm

While trying to test a problem with attachments I have come across a quirk in the message delivery system that concerns me.

I'm using Scalix 11.1.0 on Fedora Core 5. Clients use Outlook 2003 SP2 with Scalix Connect 11.1.0. We have another mail server (sendmail) in front of the Scalix server that archives incoming mail.

My test involved bouncing a message (using Mutt) from this server to my account on the Scalix server. The first time I tried this it worked fine. Then I proceeded to delete the email from my Inbox and try bouncing it again. The email never arrived. Checking maillog on the other server shows that the message was delivered successfully to the Scalix server.

When I checked the Local Delivery log on the Scalix server through SAC, I noticed the following message:

Code: Select all

REPORT Local Delivery(Local Delivery) 09.11.07 11:21:16
[OM 7623] Duplicate message detected in user's In Tray delivery log and discarded:
1189042371:002e01c7f025(036)d770d260(036)86527720(036)(a)net.au
Current errno value: 2
Last Msg Id: 002e01c7f025(036)d770d260(036)86527720(036)(a)net.au

I guess I understand why Scalix doesn't want to introduce a duplicate message into someone's mail store, but is there a way this 'delivery log' can be cleared? I would have thought that what I'm attempting is a fairly common procedure. I'd hate to think that Scalix would block my attempts to, say, restore an accidentally deleted message to someone's Inbox. I know Scalix has it's own backup/restore processes, but it should still behave just like any other MTA.
