Send email - "From different domain"

Postby wilson » Tue Jan 01, 2008 8:15 pm

Hi,

I tested scalix and it is so much wonderful.

Can i set the user outgoing email address different then the incoming email address?

e.g. We have a hosting company hosting our email. abcde.com and i forwarded the email for some users to zxygh.com (Scalix server).

Users only connect to zxygh.com and when they send email from the scalix web mail or outlook (with scalix connector), the recipients will see it is from john@abcde.com and when they reply, it is reply to abcde.com (and it forward to zxygh.com) ?

The reason is i can't move everyone to scalix and only few people wants to move across and they don't want to change their email address (i told them already that i can setup auto-response etc).

Thanks.

The first email address the user has is used for outgoing mail in Outlook and SWA, the others are purely used for incoming emails.

Yes, it's set up there for both SWA and Outlook. For other IMAP clients you will need to set it in the client.

Hi Valerion,

I login to webmail and go to tools/options and try to change
"From/Reply-To" but the Name and Email Address are "grey out" i can't type anything in it.

another question is when i compose a new email to my gmail account. how can the recipients read my email address as my "old email address" and not the new email address (from new scalix server?)

by searching the forum, i read this as a solution
viewtopic.php?t=6847&highlight=replyto

Let's repharse what i need to achieve.

1. original domain aaa.com hosting pop a/c at our vps.
2. new domain bbb.com scalix server hosting in house for testing
3. I forwarded emails send to user1@aaa.com to user1@bbb.com (with same alias)
4. user1 only use scalix SWA (premium user) for send/receive emails
5. when wilson send email to user1@aaa.com (using vps pop), email forward to scalix (user1@bbb.com) and user1@bbb.com receive my email.

The problem is i m wilson@aaa.com, when user1@bbb.com send email to wilson@aaa.com, it search local domain "aaa.com" for user wilson and it return error to user1@bbb.com that user wilson@aaa.com is not in the system.

Some advice please?
