I noticed that Scalix sends bounce back/error messages to /var/mail/root instead of sending these messages to the Saclix administrator’s email address, why is that? Do we have to customise this setup? Shouldn’t this setup be part of the default installation?

System info;

Running SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (i586)
Running Linux linux-sbm7 2.6.16.21-0.8-smp #1 SMP Mon Jul 3 18:25:39 UTC 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
Running Scalix-11.2.0-GA-core-sles10-intel.tgz

If you are on RH change the alias for root in /etc/aliases (should be commented out) and run newaliases. File locations may or may not be different on other distros

Valerion, as you can see from my original post, I'm running SUSE 10. My question is why are these emails sent to that log file when they should be sent to the Scalix Administrator's email address.

Not everyone wants the mail to go to the Scalix account. It may also be that the administrator has previously defined an enterprise-wide mailbox this should go to, other than Scalix (I've seen this before). And it's yet another file that can cause issues when modified. Always be careful when modifying another system, especially if you don't tell them you're doing it.

If you want this, I suggest you file an enhancement request against the Installer at http://bugzilla.scalix.com - there the developers would see it and they can see if it is something they can/want to implement.

BTW, if you are running sendmail on SUSE (as opposed to Postfix) the files /should/ be in the same location.
