New Install - Emails to outside address not working?

Hello forum.

I've got a brand new installation of Scalix Community, on a server where I previously attempted to install Zimbra. The purpose of the install is to test the application without messing with our current POP3 install (hosted elsewhere...) or it's DNS entries. So, I assumed (maybe wrongly) that keeping the standalone DNS server configured was a good thing.

Anyway. I can log into webmail and send emails locally on the server, but emails sent to an outside address never arrive. I've got the DNS server on the box set up to forward requests to our IPS's DNS, and can resolve the mx record for our actual live domain, and itself.

Our live domain is mydomain.com, and I've configured the scalix/dns server as tb003.mydomain.local. Digs and nslookups are all successful for both domains.

By all appearances, the email leaves when I sent it from webmail. Looking at the queues doesn't show anything indicating an error.

The box is running RHEL 4, and the version of Scalix is 11.2. Thanks in advance for your assistance...

I'm pretty sure I answered my own question. If the receiving server can't resolve the name of the server that sent the message, it likely won't be delivered. If I'm wrong about this, please let me know.
