Hi there, I see yum wants to upgrade to this kernel in Centos 4.5: 2.6.9-55.0.12.EL. Is that okay or will it mess with scalix?
If it is okay, can new Kernels screw things up or should it usually work ok?

Except for online backup - as the usual best practices rely on LVM snapshots - I can't remember a single situation where Scalix had been dependent on kernel versions and I've seen a lot of them come and go. We don't certify specific kernel versions anyway. As RHEL or CentOS are very careful with their kernel upgrades in addition to this, I see your risk as very little. We upgrade kernel and OS libraries on our internal RHEL and SLES servers all the time.
As always with system upgrades, make a backup before you apply.
Florian.
