Rules and Alerts for external email addresses

I'm trying to add a new rule which will move emails from external email addresses (not added to our company address book on Scalix). When I try and save I get a message stating that the server could not be reached to save the information. However if I create a rule using only people on our local address list it works perfectly.

Any ideas how this can be fixed?

If you are picking the addresses off of your Contacts folder, Outlook will create a client-side rule, as opposed to a server-side rule. Client rules only run while Outlook is active, while server rules are acted on as the mail gets written into the mailstore. The server has access to the global directories, but (I know this sound strange) is not able to interpret addresses from your Contacts folder.

What I do in a case like this is to use "with specific words in the sender's address" instead of "from people or distribution list" as a rule, and I find it works very well.
