omsmtpd auth mechanisms with ldap passwords

Postby cransom » Wed Oct 10, 2007 8:04 pm

Hi all,

We just set up a scalix 11.1 system (currently under some testing, will probably go into production soon). We currently house all account information in ldap and use omldapsync to populate scalix. Authentication is piped directly to the openldap system. I was doing some poking in the smtpd.cfg and I'm noticing that the scalix smtp server is advertising auth methods that don't work. From the testing I'm doing, the smtp daemon is advertising the following methods of auth:
250-AUTH PLAIN DIGEST-MD5 GSSAPI LOGIN CRAM-MD5
250-AUTH=LOGIN

Of which, neither md5 crypts work at all (I'll get a wrong password error in Mail.app and Evolution), though plain and login work just fine. I then added my password internally to scalix (via ommodu -p) and these mechanisms work. Since the user's passwords will only be stored in ldap, is it possible to change the AUTH string to only the supported methods? Or, is it possible to make the digest and cram-md5 methods work under our current config? The latter would be nice, I always like adding functionality rather than removing.

I'd be happy to furnish any logs/configs that might help! Thanks

-casey
