Upgrading 10.0.1 to 11.2 with openldap and SLES10

Hi guys,
I'm upgrading a client of ours who is currently running 10.0.1 to 11.2 on Friday.
We using omldapsync -u 13 -A to sync our users to Scalix so I will pull the ldif file across and get the openldap running first.
I've been warned that sometimes Scalix doesn't seem to "find/match" user accounts with their old mailboxes when using openLDAP., like the users show up, but as new users.
Anyone else come across this before, anyone have any tips for me?
I will use the following steps to do the upgrade unless there is a better/simpler way?
Create Scalix user and group with home dir /var/opt/scalix
Copy old scalix to /var/opt/scalix, will check ownership and permissions etc.
Install 11.2.0, and keep old mailstore.
