viewing a scalix user's mails in backup node

hi there,

we have a scalix 10 running on SuSE 10.1

a user has erased important emails in his mailbox and is asking for recovery.

what i have is an archive of system fullbackups that goes back to the time when the required email had not been erased.

so far, i have extracted the whole /var/opt/scalix/data dir as a tar file from the backup server and saved it locally on the backup server (debian etch).

i could also copy the retrieved backup tar file to the mail server (to have scalix commands at hand).

is there a possibility to read and grep mails that are located in my scalix-data backup tar file without restoring them to the running scalix server??? is there a possibility to offline convert mails in my scalix-data backup tar into maildir or mailbox format???

help on this issue will be very welcome!!!!

best,
mike

I don't believe so, no.

If your server is licensed, you can use the recovery folder to retrieve the missing emails, depending on how old they are.

Sorry, recovery isn't available until 11. Sorry.

Personally, I'd advise pulling a VM image of Scalix from VMware. You should be able to uninstall it, copy over your data, and reinstall quite quickly and easily.
