Forwarded messages appear From: the forwarded user

Postby cartel » Wed Aug 29, 2007 6:32 pm

I was aghast to find that there is no option in the SAC gui or in the AD extensions to forward mail delivered to a specified user to a remote account. Eventually i found that in order to configure this I had to download the sxaa tool and configure from command line, and download the addfw admin plugin to add the option to sac.

However when I configure a forward via the sxaa --user --forward method and test from a remote mailbox, mail is not cleanl delivered to the forwarded address. It appears From: the specified user with a plaintext ---Forwarded message--- header.

Is this the best scalix has got in terms of message forwards? Or do I need to use a different mail server to handle these addresses?

There are many tricks that we can come up with using sxaa, aliases, .procmaiilrc, .forward and Scalix internal rules. You need to determine exactly what you want and decide on the sequence of processing. Somebody will then be able to suggest the best approach. SAC alone is very poor to address that many redirection/filtering strategies.

In your case for example, if I understood well, what you ultimately want is that an email sent to an "user" in the scalix server never actually stays in the server, and gets integrally forwarded to an external address as if the scalix server had never been part of the equation. Please confirm.

What I want is a user who can login to swa and access his calendar and address book, but also have email forwarded to his blackberry. I worked out how to do it with sxaa: it was --redirect --retain as opposed to --forward.

Case closed. Thanks for the response though.
