Some messages being sent tens of times

Postby madaleno » Fri Aug 10, 2007 1:59 pm

Hi,

I have Scalix 11.1.x running in a CentOS 4.x box.
It was all running w/o any problem, but a few days ago I start having some problems.
Some messages from a few users are sent over and over to their recipients. Some are delivered 100 times. Until the user goes to Outlook's OutBox folder and delete the message from there.

Any help?

The weird thing is this is only happening with some messages not with all and not all the time.

Thanks,

Luis Madaleno

I've seen this on an older installation of Scalix on Outlook 97 using POP3. At the time I thought it was a client issue, not a server-side one as the client kept on submitting the message. Not sure if this is similar in your case, though.

The Outlook I am using is Outlook 2003.

What was the source of the problem you had and what solution did you find at the time?

Thanks.

Hi Madaleno,

can you:

- set Scalix logging in Outlook (Tool -> Scalix Properties -> Support) to "API entry and exit points + commentary + internal" for Message Store Provider and SmartCache Store Manager

- logoff that Outlook client

- set the following in ~/sys/user.cfg/<scailx-user-id> ?
If you've never done that before please refer to page 218 of the Scalix Administration Guide for a description of using settings in user.cfg files.

<pre>UAL_TRACE_LEVEL=8
UAL_TRACE_FILE=user-tag.%s.%p</pre>

- logon to Outlook

- wait for one or two such emails to be sent

- logoff Outlook

- post the logs here, both from /var/opt/scalix/*/s/tmp/ and %userprofile%\Local Settings\Temp\

With any luck we'll be able to see something.

Chris
