Limiting Distribution access

Good morning,
Is there a way to limit who can send mail to distribution list groups? I want to be able to keep people from sending to groups that they don't have a need to send to.

Example: I don't want people sending to the everyone list. I would disable the list, but there are times when, as an administrator, I need to let everyone know something (server going down, etc). I really don't want the everyone distribution list being used as a "Hey, look, so and so had babies." While that is good news, it is bad because we have offices all over the place, and I find it hard to believe that people in our offices that don't work with this person would really care.

I have thought of a "band-aid" fix, but I have a question about it first. If I were to hide the distribution lists from the address book, would I still be able to send to everyone if the need came up?

Thanks,
-Chad

What you're looking for is ACIs. These control access to Public Distribution Lists. You can restrict access to specific users or just administrators. You can remove access from non-Scalix users, i.e. to prevent access from outside of your organisation.

Chapter 9 of the Administration Guide gives you more detail and there is a Solution in the Knowledgebase if you search for the word "omshowaci".

Cheers

Thanks Dave. I had looked at that section, but for some reason I read the description of it as someone who could manipulate the PDL, not necessarily who could send to it. I will re-read it.
