Mail Filtering Issue in scalix

Hello All,

I have a small issue with scalix mail filtering. This is what I did. Using sxaa script I set up some filters.

sxaa --user rangi --file "Billing" --subject "billing"
sxaa -u rangi --file "PHP_LIST" --subject "[PHP]" --title Php
sxaa -u rangi --file "Spam_Maybe" --subject "[SPAM]" --title SPAMS

Everything works great. I see the mails are filtered and placed in the right folder.
But things start getting messy when I add this rule to redirect my mails to my blackberry.

sxaa -u rangi --redirect jprangi@tmo.blackberry.net --retain

Scalix starts making copy of each mail in the folder as well as Inbox. Also on my blackberry I start receiving all the mails including the filtered ones. I dont want these filtered mails in my inbox and on my BB.

Is this normal or its only me. Is there any solution for this so that filtered mails does not go to my Inbox and BB.

Thank you,
-Jai

There is a certain sequence in which things happen. First is the spam/virus classification/removal, then the "delivery" (redirection/forward, etc,). "Filtering" is processed *after* the delivery.

If you stop to think, that's exactly the behavior one should expect. You may redirect/forward an incoming email to several users (including your BB), and it's up to each one of them to decide what to do with the email after it arrives at the inbox.

We had a similar situation with our BB's. I worked with our ISP and we now use one of their resources that lets us sync the messages from our mailboxes at a regular interval (IMAP). No more redirection for us and we're very happy. In addition, the ISP's system also lets us filter out (or in) the stuff we want to have *retrieved* by the BB (not redirected/forwarded to it)

Thank for your response. Our mail server is behind firewall. I know imap is one option. But that wont work for us.
Other option I can think of is using procmailrc at user level.
Does any one know how can I use procmailrc for a scalix users. I am not talking about global procmailrc.
If I can send scalix mail to user's procmailrc rules, I guess I can do lot more. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,
-Jai

You'll need to create a normal unix account on the scalix server.
In your new home folder you can keep the .procmailrc file.
