Calendar 'Weirdness'

We had changed our address book a while back to display "firstname lastname", after initiall being "lastname, firstname". This has caused havoc with calendars and appointments. Is there something we can do to 'clean' these calendar appointments? (the recipient(s) show as backwards and therefore can't be updated, etc...)
