Turkish characters - SWA problem

Hi there,

We are having rather strange problem for three days (three days ago we upgraded our Scalix server to 11.1.0). The problem is, when SWA users send an e-mail to outside world (internet address), the Turkish characters within the message becomes garbage. If the sender (our personel) is an Outlook user, the mail message appears correct, i.e., the Turkish characters appears as they should be. We have tried different fonts (Times New Roman, Tahoma) and even "Plain Text" option within the SWA --> Tools --> Composing Mail. But that didn't solve the problem either. We have two lines for MIME TEXTFILE CHARSETS in our general.cfg file :

UXO_MIME_TEXTFILE_CHARSETS=“windows-1254, iso-8859-1, ISO-8859-9, UTF-8“
BRW_MIME_TEXTFILE_CHARSETS=“windows-1254, iso-8859-1, ISO-8859-9, UTF-8“

These two lines were there for quite some time, so I don't suspect that is related with our problem (we're having this problem for 3 days). I appreciate any hints/thoughts/helps quickly, we're having bad times ...

Hi Yucel,

Could you display the message source for a message that has become garbage please?

Ideally, if you could enable network tracing for port 25 on your server and post what SWA sends to that, that would be great too.
I use wireshark, which used to be called ethereal to trace traffic - for instance :
tshark -i any -f 'tcp port 25' -w port25.ether

will create a file called port25.ether which can then be examined using wireshark's graphical interface (in package wireshark-gnome or ethereal-gnome).

Thanks,
Gren.

Hi Gren,

Thank you for your reply. I prepared a screenshot, you can view from here :

I'll try to produce port 25 trace later. Thanks in advance...

Hello, we're still having difficult times. Every day SWA users come to me and complaints about garbage characters send to outside users. Please, are we alone on this problem? This problem occured after we upgrade to the latest release (11.1.0)
