Hi all,

For testing purposes I'm actualy runing Scalix 11.1 CE under Ubuntu 6.10 and it works great for me!
Because we plan to upgrade to Small Business Edition I've
got a little question according Scalix: Is Ubuntu know as official supported OS? Or is it just supported in form of the debian packages?
From your release notes i could only determine "RedHat Enterprise Linux 4 and 5; SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 and 10; Fedora Core 5 and SUSE Linux OSS 10.1." as supported OS's

thx for reply & greets

Hi Simba,

you are correct that Ubuntu is not a fully supported OS. We make the CE packages available for people that want to use Ubuntu/Debian on a caveat emptor basis, but commercial versions aren't available outside of our partners Xandros and Univention both of which have their own debian-based distributions.

Hi chris,

first off all thx for the information and the fast reply!
does this mean there is no way to run the SBE under Ubuntu or Debian?
Do I realy have to switch to e.g. RedHat or SuSE to run the SBE?
Are there absolutely NO supported debian packages as they are in form of CE?

There are supported Debian packages from Xandros and Univention, but then you'd need to use their software and not a pure debian/ubuntu system.

Otherwise, there's no way to run SBE/EE on .deb

Alright but is it... eventualy... possible to just upgrade the CE by purchasing the license?
Atm there are just 25 supported premium Users in CE. Can I extend this by purchasing the license? If so... Would this also extend the funktions of CE?
Is it possible at all to just upgrade the CE by entering a purchased license code or something?

Scalix server on Debian will not accept a normally purchased license. Both the regular SME and EE licenses will only apply themselves to the other (RHEL, FC, SLES, SuSE OSS) platforms.
