Admin console at localhost running very slowly......

I finally got my server up and it appears to work great. However, when I connect to admin console (via localhost) everythin slows way down. I started running system monitor and I can see the CPU goes to 100% whenever I click on a menu item. This isn't exactly a server-class system, but it's not THAT bad:

Single Pentium Xeon 2.6Ghz
1GB RAM
250GB IDE HD

Whenever the admin console isn't running the system running really fast. Any ideas?

If you run

Code: Select all

top
, what processes seem to be taking the CPU ?

Cheers

It shows 'firefox-bin' taking 80% or so, whenever I click on something in the admin console. The remainder is made up of gnome-terminal (3%), X (1.5%), and a bunch of other stuff that doesn't even register with a percentage.

Well, since the process 'firefox-bin' kept using 80-90% percent of the CPU, I decided to use a different browser. I am now using the Epiphany browser that came with FC4, and thing are moving much faster. For some reason Epiphany is using, at most, 38% of the CPU. Go figure.....
