Major Problems, Services stopped, No Mail. Please Help!

Hi,

I found it very strange that i had not received any mail all day, and so I sent myself a test e-mail, which did not come through, also, I have made some Ebay bids, and have not had the standard ebay 'Lets send you an email every time you click a button' type e-mails.

So I decided to open my mailbox using an IMAP client (just to see if it was webmail, as i am currently having problems with SWA)

My IMAP client said it could not connect to my server, so i logged onto the scalix web admin console to check the services;

Services/IMAP Daemon
Services/LDAP Daemon

Services/Other Services/Database Monitor
Services/Other Services/Directory Relay server
Services/Other Services/Mime Broswer Controller
Services/Other Services/Notification server
Services/Other Services/SMTPD Relay

Are ALL stopped!

I tried to start the IMAP service using the admin GUI but it wont start, neither will the SMTPD relay (I tried these two because they seemed most critical)

I use fetchmail to poll all my accounts and dump the mail into scalix, I checked the fetchmail logs (fetchmail runs on another pc on my network and works fine) It is still receiving emails and scalix is still accepting them.
However, they are not showing up in SWA, and not showing up in any of the Queue's in the admin console.

Please help! I cant have random services just stop like this :P

Regards, Matt

What OS?

Did you reboot the server? Is this a new install, or did it just stop working all at once? If it's a new install, I would re-install.

Hi Matt!

What serious error/error you see the /var/opt/scalix/??/s/logs/fatal log file. Try to report the
errors that appeared approximately since you have been this trouble.

Send me the results of following:
omstat -a
omstat -s
rpm -qa | grep scalix
ps ax | grep tomcat

Any software or hardware change done on Scalix Server?

Thanks,
Subir

Hi Matt.

I suggest you shut down the Scalix server and re-start it. On Redhat/Fedora systems,
you can do this as root using :
/etc/init.d/scalix stop
/etc/init.d/scalix start

Gren.
