Upgrade path

Hi,

I have inherited a network using Scalix as its email platform. The current version is outdated (8.2) and I want to get the latest version up and running asap. I have a support agreement and have downloaded the latest version.

I have been advised that I may need to update several previous versions before I can apply the 9.4 upgrade. Is this true and if so can someone give me some info on the upgrade path? I have searched for any documentation at all on this subject and have failed to find anything useful (even on the Scalix support pages the info is pretty thin).

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers James

Hi James,

please don't start calling our product Legacy EMail! :-)

Assume you have a support contract (as you got the download information!), please contact our Technical Support at support@scalix.com for assistance with this. In theory, our latest installer should be able to upgrade your system all the way; however a number of new components have been introduced along the path, we don't test the whole span of possible upgrade pathes, just the more probable combinations. Therefore, I think we should do a whole health check of your system.

Also, be aware that platform support has changed since Scalix 8.2. If you're still running on RHEL 2.1 or SuSE SLES 8, you'll need to upgrade your OS as well.

Good news is - it'll be worth it; the wealth of new functionality added in releases 9.0, 9.1, 9.1.1, 9.2, 9.2.1, 9.4 and now 9.4.2 will make your life sweeter afterwards! :-)

Florian.
