User Language setting?

Postby kjakkanen » Sun May 20, 2007 7:17 am

Hi,

I've noticed that the users that were created using Scalix 10 (we updated about a month ago) have their Language set to "C" (in omshowu output) but the ones created using the new version 11 have "AMERICAN". What's the "C" language and what it should be set to (we are European users so umlauts etc. are in use)?

Also in Outlook if we have a user with umlaut(s) in the Display Name, it is shown using the "US" format (e.g. umlaut a becomes "ae" etc.). Is this correct or would it be possible to tweak Scalix to somehow make the umlauts work in Outlook names as well?

Thanks,
Kimmo

Hi!

I suppose this should be representing Common or default since internationalization was not
implemented before Scalix 11.

User's language could be changed using the command -l option in command ommodu.

See if that helps.

Thanks,
Subir

Hello!

So just to clarify, since we're using the "special characters" on Scandinavian keyboards, should we use "AMERICAN" or "GERMAN" as the language setting (the LANG-locale on the server is set to en_US-UTF8)?

Thanks,
Kimmo

Hi!

You should use GERMAN, try setting the server locale to German if that helps.

Hi,

Won't this change all the server messages etc. (webmail?) also in German?

Do I understand correct that whatever the language is set to (either AMERICAN or GERMAN), it should not be "C" at all? In other words, I would do correct by changing the language setting to AMERICAN or GERMAN for all the users who currently have just C?

And this would not break anything inside Scalix? :)

Thanks again!

KR;
Kimmo
