Backup Scalix 11 Data, then reinstall complete Server

Postby DaJackel » Wed May 09, 2007 1:39 pm

Hello! I have installed scalix 11 on a Red Head 4 Enterprise and wanto to update/reinstall the Server to Red Head 5, but i dont know how i can Backup Scalix complete with all Contacts and Calender and restore it after reinstalling. I read serval Posts about LVM and Mailboxbackup, but i dont have LVM and i dont want only the Mailboxes. I want all.

Does somebody have a solution for me? If someone knows a Post with a good way, please let me know. All Post that i read doesnt have a good solution.

Greetings

Hi A Peters

Yes there is a proceedure for doing what you want. There are a few steps involved in doing this but it does work.

1) You need to rsync /var/opt/scalix to your new server (important to preserve ALL file permissions)

2) You need to rsync /etc/opt/scalix to your new server (important to preserve ALL file permissions)

3) a unix user scalix mst be created on the new server with UID and GID the same as on the old server.

4) Set the host name to be the same as the old server (very important)

5) Set you DNS to forward and reverse resolve your new server

6 Install Scalix onto the new server.

7) begine to wonder that this proceedure may not have worked because RHEL5 is not yet officially supported by Scalix

Many thanks

Mike v
