Cannot remove "/Deleted Items" folder

Postby KimVette » Tue May 08, 2007 10:52 pm

Hi All,

I inadvertantly created a /Deleted Items folder while writing a mail filtering rule, and now I cannot remove it due to the name conflict with the "Deleted Items" folder. How can I rename and/or remove the "/Deleted Items" folder?

Kim,

you should be able to remove the "non MAPI - system" deleted items folder..maybe you are trying to remove the system folder?

If that fails use omcontain to remove the folder. In omcontain the deleted items will be marked as "Wastebasket". Check the folder you are deleting does not have "MAPI properties...so #12 is the folder to remove.

Option?l
Ctr Handle (3002):
1) WASTE BASKET (FOLDER)
2) Search Area (FOLDER)
3) Search Area (FOLDER)
4) MAPI Root Folders (FOLDER)
5) Message Templates (FOLDER)
6) Calendar (FOLDER)
7) Contacts (FOLDER)
8) Journal (FOLDER)
9) Notes (FOLDER)
10) Tasks (FOLDER)
11) Drafts (FOLDER)
12) Waste Basket (FOLDER)
Done

Option?lm
Ctr Handle (3002):
Entry Number:1
===============
MAPI List props
===============
VERSION=?????
CHARSET=ISO8859_1
36e00102=\@\@\@\@@\B\@\@M\@e\@s\@s\@a\@g\@e\@s\@\@\@
360a000b=0
GUID=\B \F\@\@\@\@\@À\@\@\@\@\@\@F
#b/8223=0
GUID=\H \F\@\@\@\@\@À\@\@\@\@\@\@F
#b/8503=0
34140102=ਇ úd\Qΰ\V\H\@\I‹›v
36010003=1
Done

Option?lm
Ctr Handle (3002):
Entry Number:12
No MAPI props present.
Done

Use the "D" option in omcontain to remove it.

Nope, both folders are visible in the client. The client is confused; I've tried Thunderbird, Evolution, and the web client.

If that fails use omcontain to remove the folder. In omcontain the deleted items will be marked as "Wastebasket". Check the folder you are deleting does not have "MAPI properties...so #12 is the folder to remove.

Thanks, I'll try that.

Wonderful. Apparently, based on other threads, I need the omcontain password, and the tool, well, it stinks. If I follow the man pages it just sits there and displays this message:

WARNING: This is a diagnostic tool for use by Scalix trained personnel.
Improper use can cause serious damage.
If you do not wish to continue, hit return now.

with no other feedback. If I try to use it interactively, as the admin guide implies in the extremely brief mentions of the tool, nothing happens; NO feedback to the user is applied.

Good grief.

Sorry, I'm frustrated by the incomplete documentation and other threads telling users to search when the other threads imply support needs to respond with the require info (password) via a support incident.

How am I going to fix the problem? Not bother with this poorly-documented tool; when we upgrade to Scalix 11 I'll create a new user account, move the messages over, and then delete my original user account. I'm the only user affected so that should be a workable solution.
