Cron job output and non-scalix mail not deliverable

Postby fozzmoo » Mon May 07, 2007 3:35 am

I'm getting quite frustrated with Scalix. We tried for months to get Scalix to work with OpenLDAP for single sign-on with Samba on the same box but the lack of effective Web-based tools to administer this scenario made us give up.

So, we've convinced the client to live without single sign-on. We've reinstalled Scalix from scratch so it is managing its own users and there is no OpenLDAP server synchronization.

Now, e-mail destined to the Internet is going nowhere. Connections to Sendmail on localhost port 25 are reset by the host. The mqueue is filling up with all these messages like the following:

Code: Select all

May  7 01:16:07 mail sm-msp-queue[24639]: l46Lt3ad007495: to=ioadmin, delay=09:21:04, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=relay, pri=931395, relay=[127.0.0.1], dsn=4.0.0, stat=Deferred: Connection reset by [127.0.0.1]
May  7 01:16:07 mail sm-msp-queue[24639]: l46HT5bP008408: to=fozz@iodynamics.com, ctladdr=ioadmin (500/500), delay=13:47:02, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=relay, pri=1380043, relay=[127.0.0.1], dsn=4.0.0, stat=Deferred: Connection reset by [127.0.0.1]

This makes the server pretty much useless as a mail server. I can't find ANYTHING ANYWHERE that explains this behavior or how to fix it. PLEASE HELP! [/code]

Well, let's start with a few simple things:

1) You can get out over the internet?
2) DNS is working? (ie. You get proper name resolution)
3) Can you telnet to port 25 of an existing mail server? (ISP could be blocking port 25 outbound)
4) Post output of omstat -s and omstat -a

Also...

- what OS distribution is this running on?
- when you say
'm getting quite frustrated with Scalix. We tried for months to get Scalix to work with OpenLDAP for single sign-on with Samba on the same box but the lack of effective Web-based tools to administer this scenario made us give up.
Are you talking about web-based admin tools for OpenLDAP or a web-based tool to do the one-time setup on the Scalix side?
- the output of

Code: Select all

lsof -i :25
might be helpful to further diagnose the issue.
