Hi all!

I wanted to upgrade Scalix 10 to 11 and there goes much wrong...
Now I'm at a point where I only want to rescue the emails from the scalix directorys...

Is there a possibility to export my emails without an existing scalix installation?
Or can you tell me another way which you prefer?

Thx!

So let me see if I understand. Have you already updated the 10 box to 11, without a backup of the 10 box?? Scalix 11 makes a ton of changes to the message store and recovery of the mailboxs from 10 is tough, and is not possible to go back. If you can get /var/opt/scalix or it might have been moved /var/opt/scalix/s if so then you can run the install again.

A little more info in regards to your situation would help better troubleshoot the problem

Okay...

I've had run Scalix 10.0.5 on Centos4...
Yes I have got a backup of this box, but to restore this I need a running version of scalix server...
So now I've removed all Scalix packages and reinstalled Scalix 10.
(I also installed postfix to receive emails during this "downtime")
Now I have new problems to start scalix correctly -.-

In my opinion I think I reinstall Scalix 10... looks if it works fine... copy back the directory /var/opt/scalix... start scalix and copy/export/move the mails

After I started scalix I see that 50% of the services won't start...

When you reinstalled version 10, BEFORE trying to copy your data back, were all services running?

Posted: Fri Apr 27, 2007 5:09 pm

hi doug

no... this "screen" shows the running services after a fresh install...
at the moment i only want my mails back... (for example copy them wiith thunderbird) so i don't know if i want use scalix in future...
because there come up to many problems while installing and some missing features... sorry

the imap daemon dont work...

my next question after a correct start => whats with ldap? and whats with the connection between user <=> mailbox?

re

after copy back the /var/opt/scalix directory i get the following error message on start/stop/... scalix with the startscript

[root@srv01 ~]# /etc/init.d/scalix start
omsetsvc : [SYS 13] Permission denied /var/opt/scalix/sys/config

i think its really a problem of permissions which maybe lost on copy...

but i also cant run omcheck -s -d to check rights because of

Code: Select all

[root@srv01 ~]# omcheck -s -d
[OM 28506] Which Scalix Server system?
[OM 28506] Which Scalix Server system?
[OM 28506] Which Scalix Server system?
Cannot open Message Catalog, try setting $LANG
[root@srv01 ~]#

edit:
i've run the omcheck command on a server of a friend and run the output also on my system...
the "Cannont open..." and "Permission denied" message are "fixed" :))

edit:
can you show me your content of /etc/xinet.d/imap?

edit:
now i want to install web access (scalix-installer script)

so i've checked with some other tools these accoutns... for example omlist

only my admin account (admrabbit) got output... "Logged on as admrabbit..."
all other user mailboxes

Code: Select all

[root@srv01 scalix-core-intel-redhat-10.0.5]# omlist -u rabbit
User name not known

in my opinion it's a problem with imap or ldap<=>imap...

i tried to connect with thunderbird and webmail but everytime it says that password would be wrong...

when i stop imap service it says that server is down so i think the imap server works fine...

tell me your suggestions!

thank you! and good morning :D
