These warning began appearing immediately after the upgrade from 11.0.2.1 to 11.0.3.

Hi,

The [OM 10023] are a little concerning. It would be nice to see an sxmboxexp archive for one of these. Perhaps you could send one to me at gren.elliot WHERE scalix.com
(replace the WHERE as appropriate :-) )

You can create an archive using, for example :
sxmboxexp --dref 0021992dee0ca46f -a /tmp/problem.msg

There is a sort of workaround but it might lead to other problems if there are invalid characters in the smtp_address, change :

<property id="0x39fe">
<tag>smtp_address</tag>
<type>PT_STRING8</type>
</property>

to :

<property id="0x39fe">
<tag>smtp_address</tag>
<type>String</type>
</property>

in files :
/var/opt/scalix/??/s/sys/mapixml.cfg/IPM.Appointment.xml
and
/var/opt/scalix/??/s/sys/mapixml.cfg/Imapiprops.xml

This effectivly changes to the type "String" which means either PT_STRING8 or PT_UNICODE are acceptable.

Gren,

I have sent you three sample messages using the synatx you supplied. I also checked the bug you referenced and added soem votes for it.

At this time I have not added the workaround, I will wait to hear back from you on the messages. I can add that the the error messages are originating from different users, but all on WinXP, Outlook 2003, Latest connector.

Was this bug introduced in 11.0.3?
Is it advisable to stay on 11.0.2.1 for now?

Hi asd_itops,

Thanks for the archives. It appears that my worries that the text of the smtp_address fields would not be mappable to valid SMTP addresses was not justified. It must be possible for the MAPI SP to choose to use PT_UNICODE rather than PT_STRING8 now under some circumstances where it didn't do so before.

I have submitted :

to track this issue.

I advise you to apply the fix I suggested. Note that the results of browses for IMAP clients are cached, so you may want to do an "omtidyallu" to cause the caches to be refreshed.

I would say "no" for 2 reasons.
1. I believe a number of important stability fixes went into 11.0.3
2. From a quick play with an example message that exhibits the [OM 0] issue,
This may well be a "noise" error.
i.e. The index.browse is generating useful information and the exit code is 0
in spite of the fact that a scary log entry is created.

Thanks for the follow up... temporary fix applied (except for the slight typo corrected: mapiprops.xml vs. lmapipros.xml).

I would like to ask what syntax of omtidyallu are you referring to? omtidyallu -M ? I just want to be sure... omtidyallu scares me when I am not clear.. it can delete a lot of things :)
